Cracked rear lens glass

Visible cracks on the lens but photos still mostly work? Just lens glass replacement — typically $40-$80. The actual camera module underneath is usually fine.

Blurry photos every time

Even on subjects that should be sharp, photos come out fuzzy? Autofocus motor failure inside the rear module. Needs full module replacement.

Black screen in camera app

Camera app opens but viewfinder is black or shows error? Either ribbon cable disconnect or rear module failure. Diagnostic determines which.

iOS shows “Unable to connect to camera” or similar? Software issue or hardware. We restart and software-test before assuming hardware repair.

Lens glass alone is the cheapest fix when you can swing it. Full module replacement varies by camera complexity — Pro Max with three rear cameras costs more than standard with two. Front camera pricing is fairly uniform across models.

iPhone camera repair, answered.

My rear lens glass is cracked but photos still work — should I fix it?
Yes, sooner is better. Cracked lens glass lets dust and moisture into the camera module. Photos may look fine for weeks, then suddenly go blurry permanently as debris contaminates the sensor. Lens glass alone ($40-$80) is far cheaper than waiting for the full module to fail ($99-$249).
Will Night Mode and ProRAW still work after camera replacement?
Yes. We use OEM-grade rear camera modules that maintain full feature parity — Night Mode, ProRAW, ProRes Video, Cinematic Mode, all functional. iPhone 15 Pro and 16 Pro 5x telephoto preserved. We test all camera modes before you leave.
My front camera doesn’t work and Face ID is broken — same fix?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Front camera ($79-$119) and Face ID TrueDepth sensors are physically close but separate components. If only the camera fails (no Face ID issue), we replace just the camera. If both fail together, the full TrueDepth module needs replacement — that’s a separate quote ($149-$229) because it includes the dot projector and IR emitter Apple uses for biometric ID.
My camera shows “Camera Unavailable” — software or hardware?
Could be either. We diagnose for free: force restart, factory test mode, ribbon cable check, then full module test. About 1 in 5 “Camera Unavailable” errors are software-fixable (no charge). The other 4 need module replacement. We don’t charge for hardware fixes that turn out to be software issues.
Why is iPhone 15 Pro / 16 Pro / 17 Pro rear camera so much more expensive?
Pro models have triple cameras with the 5x telephoto periscope lens, larger sensors, and more complex OIS. Module costs significantly more from suppliers. iPhone 15 Pro Max is $199 because of the tetraprism telephoto. Standard models with dual or single cameras stay in the $99-$169 range.
Will I lose my photos during camera repair?
No. Camera replacement is a hardware swap that doesn’t touch your storage chip. Photos, videos, settings, apps remain exactly as they were. We always recommend iCloud backup before any repair, but data loss from camera replacement is virtually unheard of.
